Its 2006 and myself, along with my husband Steve and our 14 year old son have set off down the M5 from Cheltenham in a hire van. We had just completed the purchase of Buckingham Lodge, our new home with 9 en-suite bedrooms. We are both from large families so the thought of catering to a number of guests wasn’t that daunting. But to be honest I had never been to Torquay, before looking for a business but my husband had and he had convinced me to choose here as our destination.
I soon fell in love with the Victorian Villas of Chelston, the beautiful thatched village of Cockington on our doorstep and of course the seafront with its many bars, restaurants beaches a mere 8 minute walk away.
After several years of receiving guests we are still enjoying the experience, everyone is unique and we try to do our utmost to meet guest’s expectations. Time and time again guests say how homely, personal, comfortable and friendly our guest house is, something you wont experience within big hotel accommodation. We feel our reviews reflect our goal… to create a home from home whilst on holiday in Torquay.
Often we walk down the seafront or sit in one of the many cafes overlooking the sea and in the quieter months try out the local attractions and restaurants – its a tough job but someone has to do it!
Steve is a keen golfer and is a member of Torquay golf course but also has extensive knowledge of other local golf courses such as Dainton, Teignmouth and Stover. Bring your clubs and he will advise you fully on this subject.
We often consider how lucky we are and hope that you will enjoy a slice of Devon life during your stay on the beautiful English Riviera town of Torquay.
See you soon
